Integrating replays (ghosts) in the intro is very easy but there are some things, which you have to consider. Very important is the fact that ghosts do not work properly in the intro section of the media tracker editor. They do not move at all because of an editor bug. You have to use the in-game section of the media tracker editor instead. Simply place a trigger at the start and use one clip for the whole intro. Once you have finished the intro you have to use the export clip button to save it to your hard drive. It is also recommendable to export the clip from time to time for backup because there is no undo function in the media tracker editor and the editor might crash occasionally.
Here is a step by step:
1. Create a replay and save it. Please consider that a replay not only contains the car's run but also the whole track. This can increase the file size of your final track drastically if you plan to use multiple ghosts. (There is a helpful sticky about this topic “HowTo: Reduce filesize with many imported ghosts”)
2. Open the in-game editor, place a trigger right at the start and add the desired camera and other stuff.
3. Import the saved replay(s) with the import ghost button.
4. Place your camera to the desired position/path and adjust the ghost’s position with start offset. This value puts the ghost to the position after x seconds after start.
5. Check everything with the time slider, play or preview button
6. Save your intro with the export clip button when everything is finished
7. Open the empty intro section of the media tracker and import your saved clip.
That’s it
